Woman Who Killed Ex-Husband Gets Seven Years for Beating Mother

Nancy Boland, the Bellmore woman who killed her ex-husband and dumped his body on the Wantagh Parkway bike path in November of 2011, was sentenced to seven additional years in prison Friday for beating her elderly mother.

Boland, 56, was charged with second-degree assault, said Robert Clifford, spokesman for the Suffolk district attorney's office. He said that Boland got into an argument with her mother, Marie Wieden, 83, at the Oakdale home they shared and beat Wieden on the head, face and arm with an aluminum cane.

Prior to this sentence, Boland was already sentenced to seven years in prison after she stabbed her ex-husband to death at their Bellmore home.

Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice said that in the late evening of Nov. 16, 2011, Boland and her ex-husband, Walter Boland, with whom she still lived on Waltoffer Avenue, got into an argument.

The argument escalated when she claimed that he threatened her with a sharp-bladed instrument. Nancy Boland said that she grabbed it out his hand and stabbed him with it once in the abdomen, driving it upward and four inches deep, Rice said.

Nancy Boland, against whom her ex-husband had a valid order of protection, told police that he refused to be taken to the hospital and that she left him at home to go to work the following day. When she returned home, she found Walter unresponsive, Rice said.

After dressing him and attempting to feed him, she concluded that he was dead, waiting until after dark to then drag his body to her mother’s car, Rice said. She dumped his body on the Wantagh State Parkway bike path north of Sunrise Highway where it was found by a jogger in the early morning of Nov. 18.
