Residents Say Yes to Bellmore School Budget

Janet Goller and Maryanne Kelly were re-elected as well.

The proposed 2013-14 Bellmore School Budget was approved by locals Tuesday with 806 yes votes compared to 354 no votes.

The budget comes in at $32,897,100, which is a 2.98 percent increase from last year's total. The levy increase was 2.78 percent, according to Assistant Superintendent for Business and Technology Deidre Gambino.

"Thank you to all residents who participated in the 2013-2014 budget vote and trustee election," Famularo said. "Because of the community's ongoing support, the children of the Bellmore School District have received a high quality education needed to succeed in life. It is through a supportive school-community partnership that we have been able to create an environment where our students are nurtured, challenged, and encouraged to achieve their full potential. We look forward to continue to work together as a “Community of Learners.”

Maryanne Kelly and Janet Goller were re-elected to the Board of Education for new terms as well, as they beat out challenger Scott Cohen. Kelly received 921 votes, Goller received 905 votes and Cohen received 440 votes.
