Hernandez is an exceptional athlete, coached by Rich Anderson, Mike Muscara and Sean Arresto, who has won the Nassau County Championship title in his weight class for the second year in a row.

More importantly, his most recent achievement was winning the New York State Championship title in the 145 lb. class. This win helped Hernandez end his season with an outstanding record of 51-1, adding to his career record of 105-10.

Hernandez has earned a total of 16 tournament victories including this year’s Freeport Tournament Champion, Ted Peterson Tournament Champion, Sprig Gardner Tournament Champion, and Eastern State Champion.

Hernandez now holds the record for the most number of tournament victories for a Mepham wrestler since the inception of the program in 1964. In addition, Hernandez is Mepham’s first New York State Wrestling Champion since 1984.
