Saw Mill Road Students Support Athletes at Empire State Games

The event is an Olympic-type competition for physically challenged children.

Saw Mill Road Elementary School students recently supported athletes at the Nassau County Empire State Games for the Physically Challenged at Mitchel Field in Uniondale.

Members of the school's Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) were invited to attend the event by Patricia Pizza, principal of The Hagedorn Little Village School, a facility, located in Seaford, which provides educational and therapeutic services to children with developmental disabilities.

The students made posters to support each athlete and cheered them on as they competed in games.
