A Dinkelmeyer Elementary School parent was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly made inappropriate comments about the school's principal during parent-teacher conferences.

Anthony Desena, 54, of North Bellmore was charged with of third-degree menacing, Nassau County Police said.

According to an email sent to parents from Superintendent Marie Testa, the comment, made to a teacher, "was inappropriate and was directed toward the principal."

Testa said that she cannot disclose what the comment was, but said it was a menacing act as described by police.

"At no time was anyone in imminent danger," Testa said. "In accordance with our district protocol, the police were notified and immediately came to the school to meet with the classroom teacher and the principal."

Testa said that police arrested the parent late Tuesday night. The district also sent a letter to the parent saying that his behavior "violated North Bellmore’s Code of Conduct and he is therefore not permitted on school grounds."

"As always, the safety of our students, faculty and community members is our primary concern," Testa said.
