Cops: Bellmore Man Had Pit Bull Attack Woman

The woman sustained minor injuries, while her children locked themselves in a room for safety, police said.

A Bellmore man was arrested Sunday morning after he allegedly had his Pit Bull attack a woman, police said.

According to cops, the 32-year-old female victim was arguing with another female around 1:55 a.m. in a home on Bellmore Avennue when Luis Linares, 18, became involved.

Detectives said Linares chased the victim up the stairs to her apartment and was yelling for his Pit Bull to attack. The woman was bitten in the leg as she tried to enter her apartment.

The victim yelled at Linares to get out of her apartment, cops added, and she locked herself in the bathroom to remain safe. Linares allegedly punched a two-foot hole in the door and again ordered the dog to attack.

The victim's two children, ages 8 and 10, locked themselves in another room and were not harmed, police said. The victim's injuries were minor, detectives said.

Linares was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree burglary, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, fourth-degree criminal mischief and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. His arraignment was scheduled for Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
