Mepham Raises More than $3,000 For Cancer Organization

Students raised funds during its annual Battle of the Classes.

Mepham High School’s annual Battle of the Classes raised more than $3,000 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

The event was organized by seniors in the school's Participation in Government class.

Students in each of the four classes, as well as a faculty team, competed against each other in a variety of physical activities ranging from volleyball, relay races and tug-of-war to a pirate relay and scooter race. 

Prior to the competition, classes competed in penny wars throughout the week, which raised $837 for the charity. These events are part of a yearlong effort to raise money for the foundation. 

St. Baldrick's Foundation is a childhood cancer charity funding research to help find cures for children with cancer.

Last year, the school raised more than $60,000 for St. Baldrick’s.

“Battle of the Classes is usually the highlight of the year for us,” Principal Michael Harrington said. “It’s seniors who lead the school traditionally, led by two great teachers, who come together for a great
