Ginger Bonner, a resident of Bellmore, had surgery to remove a benign cyst, and some locals are trying to raise support and money for her cause.
Bonner works at Amber Court Senior Center in Westbury as an activities director. Bonner has been forced out of work, and disability will not foot the entire bill.
A website was started to help raise funds for Bonner, and as of Tuesday night, just shy of $1,500 was raised. To check out the website, click here.
"Ginger needs to focus on getting well and not worrying about money," Dolores Didiot wrote on the website. "Anything you can give to cover her basics would be greatly appreciated. Ginger has always given her all to everyone. It's time to give back to Ginger."
A Facebook group has been started as well for Bonner, which has 277 members as of Tuesday night. Bonner herself even wrote messages and continues to go back and forth with supporters.
"If I do go, I've had a wonderful life full of ups and downs and finally peace and overflowing abundance of love with no unfinished business," Bonner wrote Tuesday night. "I am blessed. Good night.I know I know I'll be fine."
