Man Arrested After Shoving Cameraman in North Bellmore

A North Bellmore man was arrested Monday after he shoved a cameraman that works for WABC-TV and caused damage to the camera, police said.

According to detectives, Nicholas Trapani, of North Bellmore, allegedly pushed the 55-year-old male victim and intentionally caused damage to his video camera just after 12:15 p.m. Monday.

The victim was not injured, police said, and cops did not say what caused Trapani to get agitated.

Mark Bonilla, the Republican Town Clerk who was arrested Friday, emerged from his home just a few doors down a short time earlier with his attorney, who spoke to reporters regarding the charges against his client.

According to Newsday, the Republican town clerk "attempted to obtain intimate photos of a female subordinate who had filed a claim of sexual harassment against him."

The complaint, filed by Det. Investigator William Walsh, says that on Aug. 19 Bonilla tried to force one of his employees, Alex Desidoro, to supply him with compromising photos of a female employee who had filed the sexual harassment claim against Bonilla.

According to a release, the town attorney’s office investigated complaints against the clerk and contacted the Nassau District Attorney’s Office with information in this matter. Subsequently, detectives from the district attorney’s office arrested the clerk and charged him with three misdemeanors.

"This is just an accusation. It happens to all of us," Adrian DiLuzio, Bonilla's attorney, told ABC News.

Police told Patch that it's not known whether Trapani's shoving of the cameraman had anything to do with the media coverage.

Trapani was charged with third-degree criminal mischief and he will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Tuesday.
