State Parks offering parks pass at specially reduced price.

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Sites is getting into the holiday spirit early. The Empire Passport will be discounted from $65 to $40 during a special Cyber Monday online promotion.

"One cannot put a value on all the benefits of spending time outdoors," said State Park Commissioner Rose Harvey. The Empire Passport offers unlimited vehicle access to New York State Parks for all four seasons. As stated on the website, the NYS Parks Department advises residents to "be aware that a number of our parks on Long Island were severely damaged by Hurricane Sandy and may not fully open as scheduled for the 2013 season."

Thank's for the "heads up." I just ordered three Empire Passports on line in about five minutes. What a great savings. Three for less than the price of two. Last year i only bought two because I thought the price was excessive for the number of times I visited NYS Parks. This year with the reduced price Passport I will go more often.

Less, for less. What a bargain!

perhaps off topic but why is Callahan's still closed? anyone?

I'm buying two--one for me and one as a gift. I would have bought the pass anyway, and this year they can surely use the money.

I have saved over the years paying the latest fee $65 for a permit but to get it for $40 is a great bargin, especially if you have kids that run at the state parks or like families like mine that do "staycations" for the summer and go to the beaches every weekend that 4 trips and it is already paid for. Besides you don't have to worry to find cash to pay the toll both.

Seems like an empty gesture.Only available for 24 hours? You gotta give at least a week for people to even get a chance to hear about this offer.

I buy the Empire Pass every year.
If I would have known about this promotion I would have bought one. I think it's unfair that it was only offered for 1 day at $40.00, and considering that most of the beaches on Long Island will not be operating, I probably will pass this year and save the $65.00. Too bad NYS, you lose out.

Speaking of parking fees:
Eisenhower Park charges non residents a $10 parking fee on weekends from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. I say come one come all use the park and enjoy... Drop the ridiculous fee....

Natalie. I am so sorry to read this. I too have a little 5 yr. old dog who I love desperately...Read More and I feel your pain. There is another website for an organization that does an amazing job finding lost pets. It's LOSTMYDOGGIE.COM There is a small fee, but they get signs up all over the area and have a phone system set up where everyone in the area of where she was lost gets a PHONE CALL ALERT message to watch for Molly. They leave a phone number and their website address so if anyone has seen her or has her they know where to call. Great system! Check it out! I've never used them, but I HAVE received calls myself recently on 2 separate lost dogs and I've seen the many photos they hung up in my area in Levittown for dogs lost within a few miles of this area. In other words, they DO what they say they will do to help find Molly. Just want you to know what is out there to help you bring Molly home. My grandkids go to school around Grand and Camp Ave. We'll be watching for her! God Bless and good luck! I'm sure she will be returned to you real soon!!
