New Shopping Center to Open in East Meadow

Editor's Note: This article was written and submitted by Danielle DeSouza.

After being plagued with vacancies for months, a new shopping center is set to open on Hempstead Turnpike this year.

Meadow Crossing is well on its way to bringing new businesses to East Meadow.

The property, located at 2464 Hempstead Turnpike, was where an Exxon Gas Station once stood.

The designer, Peter Elkin of Elkin Architecture PC, said that the construction on the property started around last Christmas and that the center should be open to the public in a few months.

"The property is 4,200 sq. ft. and can possibly hold up to four stores," he said.

Augsuto Castillo, manger of Burger King, which is located next to the property, said that the shopping center will benefit Hempstead Turnpike.

"It will surely bring more traffic and traffic is always good," he said. "There are a lot of empty stores on the turnpike that we need to fill up."

When asked what he would like to see open in Meadow Crossing:

"I would like to see something like medical offices, just no food stores," he laughed.

Lol afte rading onmany post n the patch by you and others my eyes are wide open, my family has been here since 1903 and I have seen what has happened here. I used to love East Meadow was proud to have been a part of East Meadow, but the "type" of people who have moved into this area has made me sick, soon I will be leaving here and I will not be looking back ......

Isnt it "GRAMMAR" police?? ?LOL... we should put a Nassau County Police Substation there!! I know Marianne would love that!! .. yeah I agree with marianne , we dont know what the Financially Challenged people sleeping in Eisenhower Park, instead of plenty of shelters provided to them did.. but I sure as hell will not be donating money to them so they can ,in turn, go to the local bodega and load up on a 12pack of Budweiser and bring it back to the Taxpayers public park and leave the trash all over.. oh thats right where are the PUBLIC SAFETY rent-a-cops .. they look the other way..
marianne krause February 07, 2013 at 05:24 PM
Yea brent leave it to you to pick that up your so sharp!!! forget the the pblic saftey cops where are the cough cough so called real police sitting on their butts at the local 7-11 or dunkin donuts sucking down that fee coffe and those free donuts. I hbope to hell you never ever feel what its like to lose everything cause lord knows YOU would never survive. you are a crass hard person along with a few others on the patch.. i hope there is something to Karma........
Brent M. February 07, 2013 at 06:57 PM

Lord knows I would never survive? ..are you judging me.. karma.. ??? seeing you are a religious person... whats that saying , "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.." so arent you doing the same??? .. just asking.. just words.. lol.. hahah
marianne krause February 07, 2013 at 08:35 PM

marianne krause February 08, 2013 at 03:42 AM
I just think that there are some on here that think extremely well of themselves, see themselves as not capable of making mistakes or at least forget that they may have made some bad desicions and then tend to sit on their high horses looking down their noses at those who are less fortunate. Certainly no one is perfect especially me but i do try to understand rather then bad mouth others.
Brent M. February 08, 2013 at 11:08 AM
I am sorry you feel that way.. do you need a Hug? I ll give you a Hug, we are all New Yawkers together friend... btw do you know Crackmark..aka PATHMARK is closing in March?? I just heard that last night...
paul February 08, 2013 at 05:18 PM
Kick all the homeless out of the park NOW......
marianne krause February 09, 2013 at 03:05 AM
Pathmark closing has no impact on me either way.. I don't live on that side of EM and any shopping i do I usually do in bellmore..
paul February 09, 2013 at 03:14 AM
Just one store closing like Pathmark is one too many.. They have been a community staple in nassau county for many many years is a concern for all no matter what town you live in... PD
marianne krause February 09, 2013 at 03:30 AM
Oh I live in East Meadow just do not shop here, i find the super markets to be more reasonable elsewhere
Brent M. February 09, 2013 at 04:13 AM
marianne.. do you want a Hug ? you havent answered me.. we disagree alot... but id be damned before id let a non-East Meadow person try and put you down. Just wanted to pay you a compliment!! .. no pun intended.. life is too short.
Brent M. February 09, 2013 at 04:15 AM
on a side note.. im not sad .. Crack mark is closing. it hasnt been updated since atleast the 80's.. the landlord could care less and the stores in there turn over left and right.. not to mention the beggars who hoard there.. its too dark.. no cameras or security..
Brent M. February 10, 2013 at 03:38 AM
anyone disagree?? anyone..anyone. bueller.. bueller.. lol
Steven Wagner February 11, 2013 at 03:09 AM
Hempstead Turnpike is filthy. How can the town not have this a priority to attract shoppers.Abandoned storefronts and litter lined curbs are the first thing you notice upon entering East Meadow.
paul February 11, 2013 at 03:52 AM
The trash is in every town it does not start nor stop in EM...... Some days are better then others...

It's a sin and disgrace that the homeless are in the park something needs to be done. In NYC they declare a cold wether emergency at 32 degrees and remove the homeless if they refuse to go to a shelter. They jump the fence and buy beer at the 24 hour deli across from friendlys and nobody does anything about it
marianne krause February 11, 2013 at 11:38 PM
Your right it is a sin and disgrace that homeless are living in the park, its a disgrace that the issue is not being dealt with yet kate murray hires a glorified dog walker at the tune of 90,000 a year......
Brent M. February 12, 2013 at 12:33 AM
I think the PATCH should do a story on this.. in fact, im sure there is a few of us who would go , take a few pics of the Financially Challenged.. and then go and take a few pics of the Rent-A-Cops vehicles sitting in front of their Rent-A-Cop station doing absolutely nothing!!! Does anyone know how much the Rent-A-Cops get paid.. ?
paul February 12, 2013 at 01:09 AM
Just wait. Their time in the park is very limited...... You will see, they will be scattering like the cockroaches that they are....
robert February 12, 2013 at 06:10 AM
Don't you just love the politically correct labels? Homeless people are nothing more than lazy bums who choose to hang out in the park rather than work and most of them collect some kind of welfare and steal whatever they can get their hand on.

Ok, public service announcement coming: Nothing personal, but when people have a lot of spelling and grammar errors, it makes them sound foolish no matter what they are trying to say. If you want to say something, take the extra 2 seconds and spell check - that way, people might actually listen. As opposed to our focusing on how Yea = yeah, pblic = public, hbope = hope, its = it's ...
marianne krause February 22, 2013 at 04:03 AM
simply said Reb "BITE ME" nothing personel
paul February 22, 2013 at 04:09 AM
You are being realistic. ... And that counts....
