The Cupcake Lady Receives a Sweet Gift

The Connect Church will pay one month of The Cupcake Lady's rent as a way to thank its owner Nancy Moniodes for her generosity.

Nancy Moniodes, owner of The Cupcake Lady, received one the sweetest gifts this holiday season. The Connect Church of Bellmore will pay her business' rent for the month of January.

Community members surprised Moniodes and her husband, Jim, with the news at a special ceremony at Bellmore Movies on Monday night.

"I am speechless," Moniodes said.

Mike Signorelli, assistant pastor of Connect Church, said that Moniodes is more than deserving of the honor.

"We wanted to help her because of how much she does for the community," he said. "Someone always has a story on how she has helped them out."

Signorelli said that Moniodes contributed hundreds of cupcakes to the church's Thanksgiving program.

"We wanted to give families a real holiday meal with turkey, gravy and the works and all that was missing was dessert," he said. "When we asked her she was more than willing to help."

Debby Izzo, president of the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores, said that the couple are always lending a helping hand.

"This is the time of giving, but Nancy and Jim give back 365 days of the year," she said. "They are always there when you need them."

Izzo urged all residents to buy at least one cupcake on Tuesday.

"I want them to feel what it is like to sellout their whole store," Izzo said.

Moniodes cried as people shared stories on how she has touched their lives.

"I love what I do," she said. "Being around people like this makes it all worth it."
