The Bellmore man who was arrested Friday for allegedly threatening to "shoot everyone at Mepham High School" graduated from there in 2002 and has changed his name since then.

According to a photo from the 2002 yearbook, Peter J. Anderson, 28, was known as Piotr Abdel-Fatah. Under the photo, his senior quote says "Have a nice life."

According to detectives, on Dec. 22, Anderson allegedly made statements indicating that he wanted to shoot everyone at Mepham High School.

On Jan. 3, Mepham Principal Michael Harrington became aware of these comments, and he notified police. After an investigation, First Precinct officers were led to Anderson's home on Dewey Avenue in Bellmore where he was arrested without incident.

Anderson is charged with making a terroristic threat and he will be arraigned on Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead.

This is a breaking news story. Patch will provide more information as it's made available.

I was a cyberbully before there was a name for it. in 10th grade i had a website that got 5k hits in 4 months. The website was call mephambash and was covered by News12 and LI News Tonight. The school tried to have it shut down but this was before columbine back when everybody was using AOL and dial up modems. A couple of fist fights were caused by the site. However i didn't create the need or want by people to talk reckless. People are just programmed to want to be heard and get a reaction out of someone. It doesn't matter if its the Patch comment section or a an older townie hating on a the new generation of brats. Its every inalienable right to treat each other like dirt. And I'll bet you everything from a diddle-eyed Joe to a damned if I know, this incident it was caused by the town/townie created tension.Peter knew what words to put together in order to get a reaction out of a kid. Both the words he used and the reaction were wrong. What that situation and patch needs is a dose of 1 part discretion and 1 party reality.
Mickey January 05, 2013 at 02:25 PM
Well just as Peter knew what words to put together, the "BRAT" knew what he must do too. And the reaction was exactly what todays kids and adults have been programmed to do!! Protect themselves, their kids and their friends. And Peter is old enough to know the kind of reaction he would get to the statement he made to a kid, especially at this time after the Conn. horror. Time for the townie to stop HATING!! And I sure don't agree that we all have a right to treat eachother like DIRT! What about treating each other with respect? And some kindness? I feel bad for you that you see the world and life that way.
Chris S. January 05, 2013 at 02:28 PM
Robert, what is (or was) wrong with Mepham & why would you publicly bash it? It's a high school, it's not supposed to be fun. I don't know any kid who really liked those 4 awkward and humiliating years of their lives.
Bucky L January 05, 2013 at 02:49 PM
Townies are grossssss.... Robert, can you and your fiend friend Peter Anderson stop threatening to shoot people and go back to pumping my gas
Michael Ganci (Editor) January 05, 2013 at 02:50 PM
Let's keep it civil folks. Thank you. MG

I blame the population density, the economic swings that come with living in Bellmore. Couple that with this younger more disrespectful generation that's drinking, drugging, sucking and f-cking their life away at a much earlier than ever before. Mepham is the only highschool i went to and can only compare it to what it is today. I don't know the kid that got the cops involved. However if they are anything like the ones that i know from around town they have a big mouth that caused an alum to open their reckless mouth(a situation i know all to well having been a drunk in the townie scene for a while. Please note i have been sober for 2+ years). All this leads me to believe that Peter didn't randomly go batsh-t crazy on a kid wearing a Mepham hoodie. The ones you have to worry about the once you don't hear from. When i was in school they wore trench coats after columbine as a symbol of solidarity and had a copies of the anarchist cookbook in their locker. If you guys really want to bring the whole Sandy Hook thing into this, Riddle me this. ..In what way was this threat similar to an actual event. I still subscribe to the idea that this story is a short hair from being called sensationalized and lacks context (oh my! he changed is name! Same school! look at that quote! sandy hook!) Ninja please! Patch needs to put on their big boy pants and do some boy boy reporting.

@Bucky L Not friends, i only knew of him. I have a Masters degree from a top tier school, I am gainfully employed at a debt free/profitable Long Island based company, I have never once threatened to shoot anybody, and I strongly support an anti-gun culture. However I am pro-a**hole thank you very much for joining my cause Bucky.
FedUpRealist January 05, 2013 at 03:39 PM
Robert, the school you have a degree from must not offer a Masters in common sense. Noone thought the kids in Columbine, the guy in the Colorado theatre, or the A-hole in Sany Hook were 'those' kind of people either. The current culture has devolved so much that it dictates more vigilance when we are presented with such disturbing info. Wouldn't you, Robert, describe this as aberrant behavior? If so, doesn't it warrant an investigation? We ALL need more info ASAP!!! How/why did he approach the student? What did he EXACTLY say/communicate to the student? Does he have a history of violence/untoward behavior? If so, to what extent /nature? Regardless, in the wake of our culture taking a nose dive with much of it at the hands of the mentally ill, this individual needs to be LOCKED-UP in a secure facility for a FULL 30-DAY PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION. And if the ACLU tries to intervene on his behalf, we should ALL flood their media sites with vociferous objection.
FedUpRealist January 05, 2013 at 03:59 PM
Mr. Hunt, I just went back and read all of your 'rants'. First of all, your lack of grammar and lack of sentence cohesiveness leave a lot to be desired. There's no way you have a college education - let alone a Masters degree. Second of all, you sound like such a bitter and depressed individual - and I do mean individual. Didn't mommy & daddy pay enough attention to you? Did you even graduate from Mepham? Or was it GED diploma?
Bucky L January 05, 2013 at 04:15 PM
@Robert Hunt can you and your friend peter stop harassing people you grosser #leggo
ppflaum910 January 05, 2013 at 04:29 PM
I agree with you Anita, everyone always thinks it can never happen in there own town, glad the school took the action they did and had this guy arrested!!!
no January 05, 2013 at 04:39 PM
@FedUpRealist Sick burn. You win. Where did you get your insults the cliché store? Pardon my creative spelling/grammar and yes I come from a long line of Bellmore raised a--holes. As for my schooling...Graduated Mepham in 4 years..partial scholarship to college, invited into the graduate program by the department chairperson (no GRE needed), received masters with distinction (GPA over 3.5) But yes, your Psych-101 prof taught you well, you are correct I'm a living, breathing, walking, talking, bitter, agonisty failure of the Bellmore/Merricks Central High School district, and the community as a whole. @Bucky L. I have not yet begun to troll. #TrueStory
FedUpRealist January 05, 2013 at 09:22 PM
Cliche?...Your self-loathing and blaming of others (the Merrick/Bellmore school district ) for your miserable life & world outlook cries out for psychological intervention. Please seek help before you hurt yourself or, more importantly, others.
FedUpRealist January 05, 2013 at 09:46 PM
Patty F - Information like this NEEDS to be passed on to the authorities. Nothing is too small. Please have your freind pass this on to investigators. It is your civic duty.
Anita January 05, 2013 at 11:23 PM
Just in case you all are curious about his arraignment today http://longisland.news12.com/news/man-who-threatened-bellmore-school-arraigned-in-court-1.4410717
Ralph A. January 06, 2013 at 01:51 PM
I had way too much of Robert Hunt on his first comment. Robert please oh please shut the hell up. That all from me.
Ralph A. January 06, 2013 at 02:33 PM
Let me add one more thing since I live off of Dewey and close to Mepham. Anybody out there who thinks any of this is funny and have a need to go around and pull a threat at any place (whether they are drunk and became stupid, or are straight and just stupid). Guess what people. None of this is funny, especially when you have and know kids who go to this school.
Michael Ganci (Editor) January 06, 2013 at 04:07 PM
Keep it civil folks. Inappropriate comments will be removed. Thank you. MG
Mandy R. January 07, 2013 at 09:28 AM
Mr. Ganci...why haven't you removed Robert Hunts posts. He has made some crazy comments...considering he cannot understand the fear this story puts in parents with children @ Mepham, like myself, he should not be able to use this as a sounding board for his obvious stupidity. I hope the Patch looks into this guys admitted cyber bullying...seems like he should be the next person we should watch out for in the neighborhood.
FedUpRealist January 07, 2013 at 01:43 PM
Mandy, maybe Mr. Ganci is allowing Mr. Hunt to hang himself with his own words and then he will provide the authorities with this 'wasteoids ' (Mr. Hunts own word to descibe himself) 'Patch' info. Hunts' comments scream out for attention of the authorities as they are incoherent rants typical of the mentally challenged - the EXACT people who are now part of the national debate on gun control. In the wake of Columbine & Sandy Hook, a true journalist can longer sit back with such disturbing rants and not inform the authorites.
Mandy R. January 07, 2013 at 02:32 PM
I agree Feduprealist (sorry don't know your name, lol)...this Hunt guy sounds like a nutcase...there is a reason the idiot that threatened Mepham is being held on terroristic threats. You cannot just say what you want if it affects others, for example screaming fire in a movie theater. Since Mr. Hunt thinks its ok to be a posting tough guy (a confessed cyber bully too) I'm sure he wouldn't mind a visit from Nassau County's Finest...which is what I hope happens before he becomes the next news story we don't want to read!
FedUpRealist January 07, 2013 at 03:20 PM
Mandy, notice was a self-descibed 'cyber' bully - not a real bully. He probably never got picked to play dodgeball, never dated, never got enough love from his mommy and was a victim of bullying himself. This is/was his 15 seconds of fame. I'd just like to know if he made any threats before Mr. Ganci cut him off. If he did, I would hope Mr. Gangi has the common sense to notify his intended victims AND the authorities. Otherwise, it could come back to haunt him.
no January 07, 2013 at 03:32 PM
I never called myself a "wasteoid"(<another zinger im sure you picked up back when bellmore was mostly potato fields im sure). I have no ill intentions and merely exercised my right to having my option heard (which up until this point seems to be inline with Patch.com TOS). Let the record show that i have made no threats and i strongly support of an anti-gun culture (as i have already stated.) If a counter position and giving a one time classmate the benefit of the doubt have caused you to have a fit of paranoia i have the number of a few life coaches and social worker (that i know socially). They might be able to help. @Mandy R. I'm pretty sure whatever petty misdemeanor shenanigans i was apart of 12-15 years ago (when i was a minor) is thoroughly covered under the statute of limitations. And the only communication i would have with NPD is to have my PBA card renewed. If Patch isn't satisfied with hosting civil discourse they delete any post at anytime. Its their site. However im sure they/their sponsors appreciate the influx in traffic.

IMHO, The police/justice system should now be allowed to do there job's . The right or wrong will be determined by people with the skills to do so.
Mandy R. January 07, 2013 at 06:54 PM
Mr. Hunt, I believe you should contact those people you know to help you with your anger issues...in addition to your lack of sensitivity. You obviously need help getting beyond your tough guy cyber self...funny I picture you as a total geek with a pocket protector. You are most certainly not as smart as you give yourself credit for...if you were why wouldn't you be embarrassed to admit being a bully in any fashion (most importantly a wimpy one since you were hiding behind a computer screen). If you ever become a parent maybe then you will understand why your rants could cause people to be concerned. Since you think Bellmore is filled with Morons and you grew up here you imply you are one of them, you strike me as the King of the morons, and I'm guessing your family is too. I'm sorry to know there are such angry people like yourself living among us. I grew up in Brooklyn...sure you have plenty opinions about that. One thing is for sure, if you grew up in Brooklyn you'd keep your snarky comments to yourself.
Laurie P January 07, 2013 at 07:07 PM
If you dont like Bellmore.... No problem.... Move AWAY PLEASE!!!!
Mandy R. January 07, 2013 at 07:19 PM
I second that Laurie!! :)
FedUpRealist January 07, 2013 at 07:46 PM
Mr. Hunt, does mommy know you're on the computer again? I thought she took it away from you. Just as you didn't fit in in high school you aint fittin' in here either.
Eileen M. January 23, 2013 at 11:20 PM
I see fed up realist is still a nasty opinionated a$$ hole no matter what name he hides behind.
Mickey January 23, 2013 at 11:57 PM
Hi Eileen. Just want to point out to you that his last message was 3 weeks ago. I think he is GONE!!
