Man Killed in Sunrise Highway Motorcycle Accident

Police report that John Morgenstern of Wantagh fell to pavement while operating a Harley Davidson on Sunrise Highway near Rose Place Saturday.

A motorcycle accident on Sunrise Highway in Bellmore claimed the life of a Wantagh man. 

According to Nassau County Seventh Squad detectives, John Morgenstern, 64, of Wantagh while operating a 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound in the left lane of Sunrise Highway near Rose Place in Bellmore appeared to experience a medical condition (unknown at this time), wobble and fall to the pavement. The motorcycle proceeded to slide into the middle lane striking a 2012 Mini Cooper, also traveling eastbound, police said. 

The driver and passenger in the automobile were not injured.

Morgenstern was found unconscious at the scene and transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:44 p.m. The motorcycle was impounded for brake and safety inspections.
