A Billy Dean's ad on Bellmore Patch? How do you propose to handle other ads for so-called adult entertainment that Bellmore kids just know to stay away from?

Billy Deans has been on the Patch for years.Us kids wear far less at the beach. Billy Deans Showtime Cafe has been around forever. My family and I live right behind the building. So-called "adult entertainment that Bellmore kids just know to stay away from"? Get your head out of the sand! Billy Deans is one of the best places for the locals, especially when everyone is back from college. I have been at the location with my parents and my boyfriend. Lifestyles have changed since you have grown up. Especially for women. (my mom loves the girls). Do you think you are better than the rest of the world? Better keep the TV turned off in your house, God forbid your children from Bellmore watched "Family Guy" or "The Simpsons" i.e.when Homer is in the girly bar....I would like to see how you would explain that to Bellmore kids sexy TV shows on prime-time TV.not in a place that your "Bellmore Kids" are not permitted to attend. Be real, this is 2013, not 1952.

Thank you Sultrysandra for your attempt at connecting the dots of the year 1952 to the 21 st century lifestyle. I agree with you that a lot more emphasis has been placed on exhibitionism also known as sexiness over the years. I am well aware of the fact that the socio-economic climate of the world has indeed flushed "sexy" out of the bedroom and has also caused some women and girls to think that the way to go is use their body parts collateral for men and boys; a thinking which by the way was present - even in the 50's (though not predominantly in an "in-your-face" kind of way) With regards to your visits to the cafe in question, I want it noted that the process does not become any less exploitative or ill-advised because our role models, mothers and college students we know subscribe to the sexploitation of women and girls or men and boys for that matter. Your question as to whether I think myself "better than the rest of the world" suggests to me that you are fully aware of the yardstick with which society measures the outrageous and rebellious, even if a cross-section of it has managed to embrace that as the norm with whatever justification their circumstance permits. I don't think I am better than the rest of the world, but I believe the world was a much better place when standards that people adhered to made for a healthier, safer, progressive, and upwardly mobile world. Things are different today indeed! Women and girls (men and boys) who have chosen to follow the path of least destruction, want to see their counterparts less emotionally screwed up, display signs of high self-esteem, be less susceptible or pre-disposed to sexually transmitted diseases, violence, become human beings that the world knows are most capable of making sound judgment, and last but not least, RESPECTED MORE simply because they respect themselves first! I must thank you for your reference to the subject of sexy shows on prime time TV and the Simpsons. Parents, you have the power to change things around for our future leaders. Your children do not have to be exposed to the subliminal and not-so subliminal inappropriate material that is everywhere on TV if you don't want that to happen. Thank you once again Sultrysandra, for inviting me into your world, where MY reality appears to be decades away from yours. I look forward to the day when your "Eureka Moment" will place you in a driver's seat that will take you to a place where you will positively impact the lives of many - girls, women, boy and men!
