VIDEO: Making Music Out of Thin Air
Bellmore resident Chris Peters shows off his skills with a unique electronic instrument known as the Theremin.
Like something out of an episode of Star Trek, the Theremin allows its user to create music not by strumming strings to pressing keys, but by simply waving your hands through the empty air.
Bellmore resident Chris Peters has been playing the unique instrument for years. The Theremin, originally invented in 1918, generates an electro-magnetic bubble that senses the movement of its user's hands, allowing them to literally create music out of thin air.
Peters enjoys usings the Theremin, along with other instruments, to educate people and encourage them to "think outside the box."

During a soundcheck at a recent multi-band concert held at Eisenhower Park's Lakeside Theatre, Peters took the time to speak with Patch and give a "hands on" (so to speak) demostration of his longtime signature instrument.
