New Dessert Shop to Open on Merrick Road

A new business is opening in Merrick and it is going to cater to the dessert lovers. 

Dessert City Cafe is set to open at 1848 Merrick Road. 

Xavier Osorio, an employee at the next door Allstate, said the property that once housed a dry cleaning store, was vacant for about a year.

"It's good that there will be a closer place to get coffee," he said.

In the coming weeks, more new businesses will be opening on Merrick Road, including Chocolate Works,  Danny's Chinese Kitchen and For Goodness Steaks.

Brett, a local business owner, said that he is happy that another store will open along the busy road. 

"It's a competitive area, but I am sure that they will have their own niche of items that will separate them from everyone else," he said. "We just wan to see full stores."
