Police: North Bellmore Man Found with Crack Cocaine, Daughter in Car

The child was released to the custody of her mother.

A North Bellmore man was arrested in Massapequa on Sunday after he was allegedly found with crack cocaine in his car while he was with his 8-year-old daughter, police said.

According to police, around 2:38 a.m., David Kruger, 41, was seen driving a 2001 Nissan with a defective brake light westbound on Violet Street in Massapequa.

During an investigation, a clear plastic bag containing what appeared to be crack cocaine, protruding from an open pack of cigarettes, was found on the passenger seat, authorities said.

Kruger's daughter, who was seated in the back of the vehicle, was taken into custody and released to her mother. The child was unharmed, police said.

Kruger was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, endangering the welfare of a child and operating a vehicle with defective brake lights. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Sunday.
