Bellmore Schools Go Into Lockout After Bank Robbery

Police are still investigating the incident.

Bellmore Schools went into lockout as a precaution after a bank robbery in Merrick on Monday.

In an email to parents, Superintendent Joanne C. Dacek wrote: 

"As a precaution, we went into lockout.  All school activities continued within the building.  Since that time the police have advised us that an individual has been apprehended."

The incident occurred at Capital One Bank on 2192 Merrick Road at 11:45 a.m., police said.  

As of 2:30 p.m. Monday, authorities said that they are still investigating the matter.
