Alleged Pharmacy Robber Arraigned

Judge orders Marc S. Gumpert held on $250,000 bail.

The Freeport man who allegedly robbed a local pharmacy Friday afternoon was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead over the weekend.

According to Newsday [paid link], Judge Joy Watson ordered Marc S. Gumpert, who said he works in the insurance business, held on $250,000 bail.

The charges include  first-degree robbery and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

According to detectives, Gumpert, 43, entered Precision Pharmacy on Merrick Road and demanded Ritalin and Dilaudid. A struggled ensued after he complied with the suspect's demands and the pharmacist fired a gun, which struck the rear tire of Gumpert’s car.

Gumpert was later apprehended by police.
