Editor's Note: This article was written and submitted by Nancy Hiler.

St. Barnabas the Apostle Church in Bellmore seeks donations for local hurricane victims, including:

  • Warm clothing
  • Coats
  • Blankets
  • Non-perishable food items
  • Bottled water
  • Batteries
  • Flashlights
  • Basic Toiletries

Items can be dropped off at the Bellmore Knights of Columbus hall at 2333 Bellmore Ave. from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The items will be distributed to local storm victims via St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Monetary donations are also sought, and should be provided directly to the parish located at 2320 Bedford Ave in Bellmore. Call 516-785-0054 for more information.

Also, beginning Sunday, Nov. 4,  those seeking a little reprieve from the cold are invited to the Knights of Columbus hall to warm up, enjoy snacks and beverages or watch television in the lounge area, and to recharge cell phones, according to Grand Night John Murphy.
