Garden at St. Marks Collecting and Distributing Food, Clothing for Victims

Editor's Note: The following was written and submitted by Christine Keller.

I wanted to make everyone aware that The Garden at St. Marks (1692 Bellmore Ave. in North Bellmore) will now serve as a drop-off/pick-up sight for items needed by those in our community (and) St. Marks will continue to offer a hot meal in the evenings.

The hours to drop off and pick up items so far will be  Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 1-3 p.m. You can always leave items on the Parish Hall steps before or after the specified times.

Items needed include non-perishable foods, warm clothing (winter coats/shoes, sweatshirts other warm clothing items including sox), blankets, sheets and pillows.  ·

A hot dinner of soup, salad and bread will be served on  Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday from 4-7 p.m.

Volunteers are welcomed. The days and hours may be extended based upon the needs of the community and the assistance of volunteers.

If you have  any questions or if you would like to volunteer, please feel free to contact Susan Salem at 516-314-6070. All are welcomed to come by for warmth and to charge cell phones/laptops.  An extension cord will always be left out on the Parish Hall platform (even if it appears dark in the Hall).

Wishing everyone the best in recovering from Hurricane Sandy. Take-Care!
