Chamber Office Relocating to Bellmore Village

The Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores will be moving to a new space to conduct local business.

Currently, the Chamber resides at 1514 Bellmore Ave. Joe Verdi, the coordinator of the Future of the Bellmores committee, said that the new space, which will on the west side of the auxiliary police unit at the intersection of Pettit Avenue and Bedford Avenue, would be a better location to conduct work.

The space used to be a police booth, but the county condemned it. Then, the Chamber received grants to build the small building that residents are used to. There's a regular room and a bathroom on the east side of the building that was given to auxiliary police.

Construction has begun to add a 12x16 room to the west side of the building, which will now serve as the Chamber's new office. The auxiliary police will still have the east side of the building, Verdi said.

"It’s right in the heart of the street fair and the car show," Verdi said. "It makes it convenient all the way around."

There's still about a year left on the lease with the location on Bellmore Avenue, but Verdi said options are being explored to get out of it earlier.
