International Delight Cafe and Hershey's Ice Cream of Bellmore will take part.
International Delight Cafe and Hershey's Ice Cream will participate in fundraisers for the Hayes children on Saturday. Residents are asked to go to International Delight Cafe for lunch or dinner and then head over to Hershey's from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. A portion of the proceeds will go the children. International Delight will have a "hope jar" for the Hayes family on site for several weeks to collect ongoing donations. On Sunday, the North Bellmore Coordinating Council of PTAs and Stop & Shop hosted a bake sale that raised more than $4,000 for the children. More than $4,000 was raised at a bake sale for the four children who lost both of their parents in a North Bellmore murder-suicide on May 1. All of the money raised at Sunday's event, which was coordinated by Stop & Shop and the North Bellmore Coordinating Council of PTAs, will go to the Hayes children. The fundraiser took place at Stop & Shop. People came to the supermarket in droves, buying dozens of baked goods and raffles at a time. Thirty minutes into the event, more than $1,000 was raised. "This is absolutely unbelievable," Bruce Detzel, Stop & Shop store manager said. "I did not think it was going to be this big." One hundred percent of the proceeds of Sunday's bake sale at Stop & Shop will go to the four children.
The North Bellmore Coordinating Council of PTAs and Stop & Shop will host a bake sale in honor of the four children who lost their parents in Tuesday's murder-suicide. The fundraiser will take place at Stop & Shop on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. "One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to the children," Stop & Shop manager Jennifer Grasso said. "Our hearts go out to that family."
The wake for Thomas and Sherrelle Hayes will be on Friday.

Three of the children who lost their parents in Tuesday's murder-suicide are students in the North Bellmore School District.
North Bellmore Schools Superintendent Arnold Goldstein said that the district will do all that it can for the children who lost their parents in Tuesday's murder-suicide. "We will do whatever we can to support the children," Goldstein said. "We will be there to provide counseling and whatever they need, because it will be very difficult for them." Goldstein said that three of the children are students in the North Bellmore School District and the oldest child is in middle school. Thomas Hayes, 43, stabbed his wife, Sherrelle Hayes, 44, and then hung himself, police said. According to Homicide Det. Sgt. A passerby in the Merrick Road park reportedly informed police about the incident.
Police have confirmed that a 25-year member of the Nassau County Police Department committed suicide some time between Sunday night and Monday morning at Mill Pond Park. According to police, a pedestrian was walking in the Mill Pond Preserve on Merrick Road Monday morning when he came across the body of a male on the bike path. Police were notified and an investigation was conducted.
