Board of Ed: Imagine if we as homeowners maintained our properties in the manner in which youRead More maintain our school district properties, it would bring down the property values in our entire community. I've been asking myself, why then do we accept this from our school district? We are charged an exorbitant amount of school taxes by you, yet we continue to accept mediocrity from you on so many levels. The kids and the community must come first, we've paid long enough. It's time to give back to the taxpayer and I DON'T mean in the way of an appropriated fund balance. Give back the funds you've already collected from us by upgrading the fields, it needs to be done, it's time!

Dear Board of Education; You are only doing an analysis to our fields NOW that a Superintendent isRead More starting on July 1st? And you admit these concerns have been coming up at many of your prior meetings! You should be ashamed of yourselves. This like telling a student to study the night before the SAT's and letting them skip 9th, 10th and 11th grade. You have not educated yourselves on the topic of safe fields, cared enough to tour the fields, or have kept our schools as competitive as our neighbors. Your letter is embarrassing! GIVE US ANSWERS at the next meeting! We can only hope that the new Superintendent has vision for our future student-athletes and that Board members who have vision for the future will come forward and speak out and make changes.

Our children are taught about stranger danger. The child did the right thing. Not all contactsRead More will involve kidnapping, but molestation is a lot more common. And years ago when I was growing up, no one warned us. If you have to be so politically correct so as not to give a description of someone, then our children & society will be in real danger.

Who in god's name would go to a supermarket when we have Peapod?? Supermarket's are out in theRead More dangerous real world, it's so much easier to just have someone deliver my groceries to my nice cozy south merrick home, and have my live-in maid put them away for me

How many times have you heard of a child in a supermarket getting molested by a stranger while theRead More mother is in another isle. ANSWER: NEVER

ANOTHER LOCKDOWN because of dogs?! Isnt this a little EXTREME?! We are becoming hostages of ourRead More fears! Why do we not lockdown the schools and report the SERIOUS problems that go on IN the schools..

Could not have say it better. I always slow down when I see kids, and sometimes, will stare at a kidRead More crossing the street while texting! If my kid was doing so, I would hope someone, even a stranger will remind him of the danger of walking and texting.

Its is the string of REPORTED incidents that have left the people shaken. Read the string ofRead More incidents above. Most of them dont match for description, type person etc. Its is VERY possible that the people in these ve3hicles etc, were about to either ask for directions or were slowing down and because of kids in the street or area and just looked at the kids..... (we dont know because they never said ANYTHING) These incidents are very misleading and the consistent reporting makes the parents and children who hear about them VERY nervous. There are legitimate incidents that go on IN the schools that never get reported, ever. But these incidents no matter how mundane get reported thrice over by North Bellmore, Merrick and CHSD. Safety cannot be stressed enough but turning us ALL into deer in the headlights anxious becasue of these stories is not good for the health of the community. Tell us about the bullying incidents and the incidents about when teachers mistreat the students instead so parents like myself can be aware of the REAL problems our kids are facing.

As stated in the story, please take time, often, to remind your children of what they should do inRead More incidents such as this. It seems like this has become a daily occurrence in districts all over Long Island. Keeping our kids safe is priority one!

A male???? Really? That narrows it down to a couple of billion people. Don't you think you shouldRead More give a real description.

Time to install video cameras everywhere?

A friend's daughter a month ago experienced the same interaction in Bellmore. Who ever this personRead More is, is targeting children in this age group and is familiar with the area. Please be careful.

This scenario is what prompted team Dawg to publish one of it's children's books on what to do inRead More such a circumstance. We have distributed our book in many districts as this seems to happen far too often, this year more than ever. Thankfully the children acted appropriately but it does serve as a reminder that it is never a bad idea to remind our children on how to act to keep themselves safe.

Safe practices SHOULD be enforced....... but hysterically drawing the wrong conclusions (with theRead More evidence above) is also a problem to our community.

In this day and age of liberal protection for criminals, why would ANY parent allow their kid OF ANYRead More AGE to walk alone anywhere/anytime? Maybe the ACLU can assign a chaperone to each of the sex offenders they say deserve to rejoin & assimilate back into society.
