The answer to the Long Island School District problem is to do for Long Island taxpayers what Obama…Read More did for General Motors. In the GM case they let the company spin off all the desirable infrastructure, plants, real estate, equipment, etc. to the New GM. Then they decided what employees they wanted to keep and moved them to the New GM. Then they walked away from the Old GM and all its excessive obligations and renamed the original GM as Motors Liquidation. Then they named the New GM, General Motors and moved on.
Well here is your answer, create the New (Your Village) School District. Put all the school buildings in its name, hire away the teachers that are best (with a new contract at 60% of current wages) and dissolve the Old (Your Village) School District through bankruptcy and disavow their obligations. If any of the teachers or administrators who are invited doesn’t want to work for the New (Your Village) School District; then hire new ones who will be glad to get these jobs.
