Digging Out: Blizzard Blankets Bellmore

The nor'easter that blew down trees and dropped a thick blanket of snow island-wide on Friday will begin to pull out of the region by midday on Saturday.

In Bellmore, 11" of snow was measured on Linden Street.

According to the National Weather Service, Saturday's weather forecast is as follows:

Areas of blowing snow and a slight chance of snow showers between 9 a.m. and noon. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 31. Blustery, with a northwest wind 18 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

A blizzard warning remains in effect for all of Long Island through noon Saturday. Travel is not recommended and should be avoided.
