Shore Road Sixth Graders Help Those in Need

Editor's Note: This article was written by representatives of the Bellmore School District.

In the wake of Superstorm Sandy, the sixth grade students in Graceann McClenahan’s and Stacey Reiner’s classes at Shore Road School in Bellmore were looking for a way to help those less fortunate than themselves.

Together, the classes decided to host a travel-sized toiletries drive to benefit the INN at Hempstead.

The students publicized their project and collected the items from their December holiday break through their February winter break.

“We were amazed with the amount of donations we received,” remarked Mrs. Reiner.

Items collected by the students included shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotions and towels.
