Letter to the Editor: Thank You for Your Support in the Welcoming of Cpl. Kevin Vaughan

Arriaga is offering his thanks to the community for coming out to celebrate the return of Cpl. Kevin Vaughan.

Dear Community,

On behalf of the Wenshaw Park Civic Association, it’s excecutive board, the Vaughan family and the Wenshaw Park community, we would like to offer this letter as a small token of our sincere appreciation for all the generous support we received in helping make the “Welcome Home Cpl. Kevin Vaughan” celebration on March 9 such a tremendous success.

This one solider reaffirmed our sense of community and humanity. We were overwhelmed and truly touched by the outpouring of support.

There are so many individuals, groups and organizations that made this an event to cherish for years to come. The event core planning team, Veterans,  parade marchers, elected officials, the Town of Hempstead, local media, local fire and police departments, North Merrick and North Bellmore school districts, local organizations, volunteers, event donors, local merchants, to all who attended and lined the streets with a heartfelt thank you to this brave solider. Your direct contribution helped place a lasting thumbprint on this memorable North Merrick celebration of community, country and true heroes like Cpl. Kevin Vaughan.

This young man truly brought us all together – giving us the opportunity to honor the service, sacrifice, patriotism and heroism displayed by all of our service men and women each and every day. Words simply cannot express our profound gratitude and how proud we feel to be part of such a close knit community that cherishes these core values.

We could not have done it without you! Thank you again for helping supporting our troops!

It was our pleasure to be able to extend our appreciation for his service and sacrifice. I was so proud to be a member of the community that day and I will forever remember his face as he waved to the crowd. He was so deserving of it all.
