Brett Cohen in Talks to Get TV Show

Brett Cohen’s “Fake Celebrity Pranks New York City” YouTube video has gone viral, currently approaching 4.5 million hits.

It made international news, and Brett has since made appearances on Good Morning AmericaThe Today ShowThe Jeff Probst ShowInside Edition, and many other nationally syndicated shows.

Now that the media tour is over, Brett is fielding offers from various production companies about getting his own TV show that will be a mix of social experiments and pranks, but with a twist that he won’t give away just yet.

“I have a very specific type of show in mind, and I’m working with my team to strengthen some of the ideas and really polish it," Cohen said. "It’s something that has never been done before on television and I can’t wait to find a home for it” says Cohen.

Even with all of this media fanfare going on, Brett is still in school, studying media management at SUNY New Paltz.

“I’ve always taken my studies very seriously, and I have every intention of finishing school," he said. "It’s my senior year, and my hope is to move out to LA the day after graduation.”

Since the beginning of the semester, Cohen has already traveled to Los Angeles twice, along with his crew from the video, to produce a segment for The Jeff Probst Show, which airs weekdays on NBC. This segment is scheduled to air next Monday, Oct. 1, and Brett will appear on the show alongside Judge Judy.

Cohen is currently in talks with four different production companies about doing a pilot, but has already turned one of them down.

“There was one company that reached out to me about doing a show that’s basically a replica of a show that’s already on TV, and that’s not something I want to do," Cohen said. "I want to do something unique and revolutionary, and I need to be working with people who share my creative vision and know that television show exist beyond what you see on the screen.”
