VIDEO: Mepham Cheerleaders Honored for Winning State Title

The Mepham High School Varsity Cheerleading Team came in first place in the varsity co-ed division at the Hudson Valley Cheerleading Championship on Jan. 19.

The team went on to be named the Grand Champions of all varsity divisions with the highest score of the day, defeating 18 other competing teams. On Jan. 26, the team competed in the first ever Eastern New York State Cheerleading Invitational and was named the State Invitational Champions of the co-ed division.

The team of 28, coached by Nicole Kyriacou DeBonis and Jayna Kyriacou concluded the season by competing in the National High School Cheerleading Championship on Feb. 9 and 10 in Orlando.
