Seven Cougars Commit to College Lacrosse

Last month, a ceremony was held in the library at John F. Kennedy High School to celebrate the accomplishments of seven senior lacrosse players that have committed to playing lacrosse at the college level.

"This is my 22nd year at Kennedy, and when I first started, kids didn’t want to play college sports," Kennedy Coach Craig Papach said. "That attitude has definitely changed."

The following students were honored for committing to colleges:

  • Daniel Hartman, Stevenson University
  • Troy Lampert, Ithaca College
  • Nick DiGangi, LIU Post
  • Chris Racalbuto, Adelphi University
  • Brandon Klein, Vassar College
  • Chris Jones, Jefferson College
  • Ralph Faiella, Adelphi University
Each of the honorees credited Kennedy for its help in shaping the men and athletes that they have become during the past four years.

“It’s been great," Hartman said. "I’ve been playing with all these kids since third grade, so we’ve all grown up together.”

Kennedy was awesome," Racalbuto added. "They taught us so much stuff that I use on the field. It’s not even stuff in lacrosse…it’s life lessons that changed me.”

These seven will have one more season to represent John F. Kennedy High School, and for Faiella, the goal is simple.

“To go all the way," he said. "Let’s get to Hofstra and bring it home.”
