Kennedy Senior Earns Diamond Award

David Leiderman was named the top player in Nassau County.

David Leiderman, a senior at Kennedy High School, was the recent recipient of the 2012 Diamond Award, according to an article on the Hofstra University Athletics website.

The award is given to the top player in Nassau County and is selected by the Nassau Coaches Association each year.

Leiderman, a second baseman, compiled a .609 batting average during his senior season. He had 40 hits, 10 doubles, 25 RBIs and 23 runs scored. He set Bellmore JFK records for hits in a season and single season average, had 14 multi-hit games and hit safely in 18 of 19 regular season games.

According to the Hofstra University Athletics website, Leiderman also received Kennedy's Outstanding Player Award and was ranked as the top second baseman in the northeast by Perfect Game.
