• Name: Steven Tsai
• Grade: Senior
• School: Mepham High School
• Accomplishment: Poetry Out Loud Long Island Regional Winner, National Merit Semifinalist
• Key to Awesomeness: Steven Tsai, a senior at Mepham High School, has been selected as a National Merit Scholarship Finalist. Tsai is an AP Scholar with Distinction. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, English Honor Society, Science Honor Society, History Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, Association of Chinese Schools Student Honor Society, as well as the Advanced Science Research Program.
• Tsai was a member of the Math Team and has received a silver medal at the Long Island Math Fair. He placed second at both the Regional Science Olympiad and the High School Physics Olympics and participated in the Chemistry Olympiad. He has received the Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award.
• Tsai recently won the New York State Championship of the Poetry Out Loud Competition. He will receive $200 and an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. to compete for the national championship on April 27-29, 2011.
