Whiz Kid: James F. DeCicco

A column that will honor the top students in the Bellmore community.

This week's Whiz Kid is Kennedy junior James F. DeCicco!

  • Name: James F. DeCicco
  • Grade: Junior
  • School: Kennedy High School
  • Accomplishment: First place in regional carpentry competition.
  • Key to Awesomeness: Earlier this year, DeCicco took first place in the Carpentry Division of Construction Trades at the annual SkillsUSA Regional Competition. Barry Tech registered 75 student participants for the SkillsUSA Area VI Conference on March 11, 2011. Students participated in Leadership and Technical Skills Contests. Teacher advisors helped prepare students to showcase their talents.
  • DeCicco, a resident of Bellmore, will be competing next at the New York State SkillsUSA contest to be held in Syracuse, New York. Eighty-four Barry Tech students will be competing at the New York State Fairgrounds. Students that come in First Place will go on to compete in Kansas City, Missouri, at the Nationals.

Know a great kid who made Eagle Scout or did your local soccer team take the
championship? They may be our next Patch Whiz Kid honoree.

Each week, Bellmore Patch will seek suggestions from readers for individual kids, youth groups, teens, and even sports teams that wow us with their accomplishments. We want to hear about these amazing children and teens and select one each week as the Patch Whiz Kid.
