WATCH: Mepham Assistant Principal Receives Tenure

Christopher Safina has been working in Mepham High School since 1993, and 20 years later, he has been rewarded with tenure.

Safina used to be a guidance counselor at Mepham High School before he took over as assistant principal. At last week's Bellmore-Merrick Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Henry Kiernan praised his work ethic and referred to Safina as an "invaluable member of the staff."

"His work is exceptional, and I am proud to have him working with us," Kiernan said.

The Board voted unanimously to approve Safina for tenure, and once it became official, he was given a big ovation from those in attendance. Patch took video, which is attached with the story.
