A Rose Brucia Educational Foundation public service announcement starring Donald Trump will begin airing nationwide on Wednesday.
The 45-second PSA is entitled "I Practice Stranger Safety."
The nonprofit is led by Holbrook's Matthew Barbis, who graduated from Sachem High School in 1989 and St. Joseph's College in 1994.
Barbis created the Islandia-based foundation in response to the death of his younger cousin Carlie Brucia, who was abducted and killed in 2004.
In the last year, Barbis has made great strides with his organization. For example, it launched a free DVD program for schools throughout the United States. The foundation also published a stranger safety activity book.
In response to to the latest PSA, Trump said in a press release that "stranger abduction is one of the fastest growing crimes in our nation. We need to proactively teach our children what to do if such a situation arises. The Rose Brucia Stranger Safety Awareness Program is a terrific educational tool that parents and teachers can use to teach children the do's and don'ts of stranger safety."
The Rose Brucia Stranger Safety Awareness Program is a free educational curriculum that provides proactive stranger safety awareness techniques to elementary-aged children.
Trump isn't the first celebrity to support the Rose Brucia Educational Foundation. CNBC anchor Sue Herera is its national spokeswoman. Also, National Hockey League Hall of Famer and former New York Islanders great Mike Bossy has recorded PSAs for the organization.
Bellmore is one of more than 40 on Long Island that have requested the educational curriculum, according to the Rose Brucia Educational Foundation.
