Three Kennedy High School Students Named Intel Semifinalists

Only 300 selections made nationwide.

Three John F. Kennedy High School students were selected with 297 other people nationwide at Intel STS 2014 semifinalists.

Rachel Abramowitz, 17; Rebecca Jellinek, 17; and Ben November, 17, were all chosen in the talent search.

"The Intel Science Talent Search (Intel STS) is the nation's most prestigious pre-college science competition," the website says. "Alumni of STS have made extraordinary contributions to science and hold more than 100 of the world's most coveted science and math honors, including the Nobel Prize and National Medal of Science."

From this pool, 40 finalists are invited to Washington D.C. in March to participate in final judging, display their work, meet with scientists and compete for the top award of $100,000.
