Students Participate in Valentines for Vets Program

Councilwoman Angie Cullin recognizes pupils for their creative artwork and big hearts.

Hempstead Town Councilwoman Angie Cullin (left, back row) meets pupils to congratulate them for participating in the Valentines for Vets program at Saw Mill Road Elementary School and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Regional School.

Through this program, which the town instituted in 2001, students create valentines to send to veterans at local VA hospitals.  Many of these men and women don't have families and it means a lot to them to know that the young children appreciate them for the sacrifices they made for our nation.
