Editor's Note: This article was written by Frank M. LaMagra.

My name is Frank M. LaMagra and I am a candidate for the Board of Education in the North Bellmore School District.

I have lived in the District for 18 years. My oldest son is now in Mepham High School but enjoyed seven years of a great education at Newbridge Road Elementary School, which is part of the North Bellmore School District. I presently have a 5 year old son and an 11 year old daughter attending Newbridge. I am married to a NYC Teacher and I am a retired NYC Narcotics Detective Investigator. I served in the United States Marine Corps for 8 years in the 80's and am presently involved in my local Little League and Football program as either a Director or Coach.

I am running for the Board of Education because I know I have a lot to contribute to the most important and precious beings on earth, our children. My main platform is simple. I want and will fight for better security at the schools and during the movement to and from our schools by our children. As a former Police Officer and a former Marine that was in charge of a squad that was part of a security detail on a Naval Submarine base, I feel I have a lot of knowledge and expertise to help make our schools safer. I will do all I can to fight for what's right for our children and parents when it comes to school budgets and work along side the other Board Members to keep our District free of overspending and wasteful unnecessary expenditures.

I hope I have the opportunity to serve on the School Board, that in the past and present,  have helped, along with great administrators and teachers, to provide our children with an outstanding education.

Thank you for your time.

Frank M. LaMagra
Candidate for the NB BOE
