North Bellmore Runoff Election Candidates Forum Cancelled

Coordinating Council of PTAs calls off event after finding out one of the candidates could not attend.

A previously scheduled “Meet the Candidates Night” planned for the night before the June 25 runoff North Bellmore school board election has been called off.

The North Bellmore Coordinating Council of PTAs announced that the forum was being cancelled since one of the candidates is unable to attend. The event was going to allow for residents to ask questions of the two candidates, incumbent JoAnn DeLauter and challenger Frank LaMagra, who finished tied at 799 votes apiece for the second of two two remaining school board seats on May 21.

DeLauter, who is seeking her third term, currently serves as president of the North Bellmore school board and is also a trustee with the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District. LaMagra is a retired New York City Narcotics detective investigator who has lived in the North Bellmore School District for 18 years.
