Michelle Gagnon, who represents the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District, told Patch that the district will be deciding what to do at the Dec. 5 Board of Education (BOE) meeting. North Bellmore Superintendent Arnold Goldstein said he expects to have a resolution on the the topic no later than next week.

The Merrick School District will also move on the best way to make up time at Tuesday’s BOE meeting, according to Superintendent Dr. Dominick Palma.
“Consistent with what you heard at the last meeting, we are likely to use some days in February,” he said We will make a decision at Tuesday’s Board meeting.”
He also provided some insight into options that were being considered.
Option 1:
- Feb. 20, 21, and 22 become school days.
- March 22 which is currently a conference day becomes a half-day of school.
- April 1 and 2 remain on the calendar as Emergency Make Up Days in case of further school closings.
Option 2:
- February 21, and 22 become school days.
- March 22 which is currently a conference day becomes a half-day of school.
- March 25 becomes a school day.
- April 1 and 2 remain on the calendar as Emergency Make Up Days in case of further school closings.
The Bellmore School District and North Merrick School District did not provide updates as to their plans for making up days.
