Newbridge Road Students Attend Anti-Bias Day Event

Ten students participate in event at Barry Technical Institute.

Ten students were randomly selected to represent Newbridge Road School at the Annual Middle School Anti-Bias Day recently at Barry Technical Institute in Westbury. The program was Sponsored by the Holocaust Memorial & Tolerance Center in cooperation with the Nassau County Anti-Bias Consortium-Middle School Division and the Nassau County Middle Level Principals Association.

The Keynote Speaker was Carl Wilkens, former head of a relief agency in Rwanda and the only US American who remained in Rwanda after the genocide began. He helped prevent the massacre of hundreds of children. His talk puts a human face to genocide and teaches that one person really can make a difference. The Newbridge Road students who attended this conference will have the honor of bringing Mr. Wilkens' message back to Newbridge Road School.
