In September, W.C. Mepham High School will be celebrating the 75th anniversary of the school's opening.
The 75th Anniversary celebration will take place on Sept. 9 and last through Sept. 15.
Festivities will commence on Sept. 9 with a discussion in the auditorium featuring selected teachers and their programs, a view and brief history of the refurbishment of the mural, followed by a tour of the building, a dedication of the restoration of the Mepham Library, funded by the W.C. Mepham High School Alumni Association, and the serving of light refreshments.
School spirit will be in vogue all week. A pep rally, and boys and girls soccer matches, will be held on Sept. 14 starting at 5 p.m. The celebration will continue with the homecoming parade (12 p.m.) and football game (1:30 pm) on Sept. 15 against rival Bellmore Kennedy, so a large turnout from the Bellmore-Merrick community is expected.
Other events which will bring out the crowd include a carnival celebration with bouncers, fair inspired tables, and local vendors scheduled for Saturday afternoon from 3-6 p.m.
Please mark these dates on your calendar and come out to show your Pirate Pride on the weekend of Sept. 14.
