The Kennedy High School Varsity Football Team has spent most of the off-season in the weight room and on the track. Last Saturday, however, the team took some of its time to build something besides strength and muscle; they built teamwork in the pursuit of a good cause.
Members of the team, along with coaches Nick Martone and Jim Femminella, and biology teacher Sara Femminella, spent the day volunteering with Habitat for Humanity in Elmont. The players assisted with landscaping and installing fencing.
This project organized by Kennedy's quarterback Adrian Rose, and the community service committee of Kennedy's student government, gave the teammates the opportunity to work together in this important endeavor.
Coincidentally, the Cougars will open their season at Elmont Memorial High School, but on this unique day, they visited the town to achieve a different type of victory - helping others.
