Increased Police Presence Reported at Saw Mill Road School

A teacher's aide saw someone Monday afternoon that she deemed suspicious.

An increased police presence was reported at Saw Mill Road Elementary School Tuesday morning after a teacher's aide saw someone resembling the police sketch that cops released on Monday.

"In the Bellmore-Merrick area over the last three or four weeks, there have been cars driving slowly by children," Mark Schissler, the district's assistant superintendent of business, told Patch. "Yesterday, one of our teacher aids thought they had saw a car or a face that maybe resembled something."

According Schissler, the police presence was to serve as a precaution in case the subject or the car was spotted again Tuesday morning.
