Where to Find Good Deals on School Supplies

Some Bellmore stores are offering great sales for back to school.

It's that time of year again where students and teachers are gearing up to head back to school. It's also the best time to stock up on necessary supplies, as many stores in the area are running sales.

CVS offers a lot of the basics like pens and paper for cheap, but also locker accessories and supplies for those going off to college for the first time. Mini dry erase boards and mirrors are 25 percent off, as are all backpacks and lunch bags. For the dorm room, desk lamps, tables and storage cubes are available.

Mr. Atif, manager of the North Jerusalem Road CVS explained that the biggest deals this week include a three-in-one ink jet printer by Lexmark for only $39.99 and a 7-inch portable digital LCD TV for $79.99.

"We have a lot of TVs available," he explained.

A CVS card is necessary to purchase both items at the sale price at the Bellmore Avenue, North Jerusalem Road or Jerusalem Avenue locations.

The best deal on marble notebooks and spiral notebooks is at Rite Aid. Marble notebooks are priced at three for $1.98 and the spirals are four for $2.00. However, an additional $1 rebate can be mailed in for both items making this the best place to stock up on those essentials.

Teacher's Tools has a great selection of products for students. Co-owner, Angela, who owns the store with her mother, explains that Teacher's Tools offers many specialty items or hard to find items that students need but other stores do not carry. In addition, parents drop off "whole school supply lists" and the store packages all the items for pick up.

There is also a large assortment of supplies for teachers because preparing for the school year is not only for children, but the faculty as well.

After hitting up Teacher's Tools, Bedford Stationery is located right down the block offering an assortment of paper, pens and notebooks, as well as printing, binding and laminating services.

The NBUFSD BOE has not mentioned cutting bussing in over a year, it is not a part of the 2013-2014Read More budget. The pensions and benefits are not regulated by the BOE it is a state mandate.

Eliminating the CHSD is a great idea but it needs to be voted on by the citizens of all 4 districtsRead More . In BM we have 5 set of administration - North Bellmore, Bellmore, North Merrick, Merrick and CHSD . Pensions are a are a state and national battle NOT local

So Lu Scala never had any children so it might be safe to say you have never been to a PTA meetingRead More or a School Board meeting or a budget presentation so then you would have no idea how the money is spent good or bad. I'm sorry that your neighbors make more than you but like anything else you get what you pay for there are educational requirements for teaching and administration jobs, I'm sure you would be happy if all the school personnel could be replaced by minimum wage earners or better yet we could close all the schools after all you have been out of school for 40 years so you don't need them anymore, but thats not how it works. Why is always the uninformed that speak loudest and longest?

A bit of a surprise considering kids come home with a supply list a mile long (and average $40-$75).
