Bellmore School Budget Passes, Goller and Kelly Elected to School Board

Voters approve $31 million budget.

In the Bellmore Schools, the $30,802,649 budget passed; 936 yes votes to 705 no votes. This budget carries a 2.97 percent budget-to-budget increase and represents a 3.96 percent tax levy increase for homeowners.

Board President Janet Goller received 939 votes and Maryanne Kelly, who for a seat vacated earlier this year by Richard Narby, garnered 1,005 votes.

However, residents also passed Proposition No. 2, 866 to 736 votes. This will decrease the size of the board from six members to five and take effect in the 2011/12 school year.

Bellmore residents also voted, 911 to 689 in favor of the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District's proposed $127 million budget. Additionally, residents voted 1,060 to 535 in favor of the $1,230,000 Capital Improvement Project.
