Bellmore Residents Excelling in College

Colleges and universities announced the names of Bellmore residents who are performing well on the college level.

University of Vermont
  • Melissa L. Rosen, of Bellmore, has been named to the dean's list for the fall 2012 semester at the University of Vermont. Rosen is a senior Animal Sciences major in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
The College at Brockport
  • The College at Brockport recently honored students who excelled academically by naming them to the Dean's List for the fall 2012 semester. Jenna Ellis of Bellmore was named to the Dean's List with Honors. Students who earn a GPA of 3.70–3.99 are named to the Dean's List with Honors, while students who achieve a 3.40–3.69 are named to the Dean's List.
Ithaca College
  • The following local residents were named to the Dean's List at Ithaca College for the fall 2012 semester: 
  • Patrick Mazzella, a resident of Bellmore and a senior Acting major, was named to the Dean's List in Ithaca College's School of Humanities and Sciences.
  • Ariella Serur, a resident of Bellmore and a junior Musical Theatre major, was named to the Dean's List in Ithaca College's School of Humanities and Sciences.
  • Stephanie Bauman, a resident of Bellmore and a sophomore Sport Management major, was named to the Dean's List in Ithaca College's School of Health Sciences and Human Performance.
Emory College
  • The following students were named to the Dean's List of Emory College, the undergraduate, liberal arts college of Emory University in Atlanta, Ga., for the 2012 fall semester: 
  • Bari Fuchs of Bellmore
  • Ross Shulman of Bellmore
SUNY Buffalo State
  • Melissa Kabak of North Bellmore was named to the fall 2012 dean's list at SUNY Buffalo State. Kabak is majoring in Exceptional Education and Elementary Education. To qualify for the dean's list, students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher and complete a minimum of 12 credit hours.
Clark University
  • Stephanie J. Pudalov of Bellmore has been named to second honors on the Clark University Dean's List. This selection marks outstanding academic achievement during the Fall 2012 semester.To be eligible for second honors, students must have a grade point average between 3.5 and 3.79, of a maximum of 4.3.
Berkley College
  • Dario A. Cortes, PhD, Berkeley College President, has announced that students from Nassau County, NY, have been named to the President’s and Dean’s Lists at Berkeley College for the Fall 2012 Quarter, including Diego Sanchez of North Bellmore.
Skidmore College
  • Cynthia Gerber, a member of the class of 2016 at Skidmore College, earned term honors for the fall semester. She is the daughter of Ross and Katharine Gerber of Bellmore.Term honors are awarded for a quality point ratio of 3.650 from a possible 4.0, for students who have completed 14 credit hours.
SUNY New Paltz
  • The following local residents were named to the Dean's List at the State University of New York at New Paltz for the Fall 2012 semester:
  • Roger Borger, of North Bellmore. Borger's major is Undeclared: Pre-Engineering.
  • Jonathan Cahn, of Bellmore. Cahn's major is Undeclared: Pre-Accounting.
  • John Coen, of North Bellmore. Coen's major is Psychology.
  • Brett Cohen, of Bellmore. Cohen's major is Communication Media.
  • Alana Cukierwar, of Bellmore. Cukierwar's major is Adolescence Ed: English.
  • Alexandria Esposito, of Bellmore. Esposito's major is Anthropology.
  • Chelsea Hirsch, of Bellmore. Hirsch's major is Journalism.
  • Elyse Martin, of Bellmore. Martin's major is Early Childhood & Chld Ed B-6.
  • Nicole Mauro, of North Bellmore. Mauro's major is Early Childhood & Chld Ed B-6.
  • Erica McGrath, of North Bellmore. McGrath's major is Visual Arts.
  • Frances Romano, of Bellmore. Romano's major is English.
  • Rebecca Rosen, of Bellmore. Rosen's major is Communication Studies.
University of the Sciences
  • Paige Laupheimer has been named to the fall 2012 Dean's List at University of the Sciences. Selection for this award is based on completing and passing all assigned courses with no grade below a "C" and attaining an academic average of at least 3.4 for courses taken in the fall of 2012. Laupheimer, of Bellmore, is a doctor of pharmacy student.

The NBUFSD BOE has not mentioned cutting bussing in over a year, it is not a part of the 2013-2014Read More budget. The pensions and benefits are not regulated by the BOE it is a state mandate.

Well for starters, why not give candidates 401K's and only pay a proportion of their benefits...HireRead More teachers and adm that actually live in our district...... Has anybody proposed dismantling the high school district......From the way I understand they have tried unsuccessfully to combine, well then how about saving moneu and splitting up the 3 high schools...This was we wont need 2 administrations...... I will try and I will think out of the box!

I'm sorry that your neighbors make more than you but like anything else you get what you pay for there are educational requirements for teaching and administration jobs, I'm sure you would be happy if all the school personnel could be replaced by minimum wage earners or better yet we could close all the schools after all you have been out of school for 40 years so you don't need them anymore, but thats not how it works. Why is always the uninformed that speak loudest and longest?

I never had any kids.. and am the last kid who went to to the Bellmore Merrick school system.....itsRead More been almost 40 years since I was a Mempham grad..and it is very disharting to hear that my many many high tax dollars..are not enought for these kids I have been sororting all these years!!! Who is getting all the money??? Its all bull.. aI live inbetween teachers.. how is it they can afford high end cars, housekeepers, landscapers, ect??????... the money is being spent in the WRONG WAYS TO THE TEACHERS, AND MOST OF ALL THE ADMISTRATION, THE SCHOOL BOARD ECT... I AM CALLING FOR A MASSIVE AUDIT AND GET0 per year.. they afe not worth any more then that.. THE MONEY BACK FROM ANYONE WHO WAS PAID MORE THEN $75,00....
