Bellmore-Merrick CHSD Offers CPR Classes

Kayla Babbush, a 10th grade Kennedy High School student, has been working with the Robbie Levine Foundation to bring free CPR/AED training to the Bellmore-Merrick schools.

The Robbie Levine Foundation was created by Dr. and Mrs. Levine of Merrick, after their 9-year-old son Robbie died suddenly, when his heart stopped on a baseball field during practice. Unfortunately, there was no defibrillator available at the scene. The Foundation's goal is to increase the awareness of the need and importance of automated external defibrillators in schools, sporting events, and the workplace. 

The CPR/AED training was free of charge to students and faculty, courtesy of The Robbie Levine Foundation. Certified trainers were on hand at Mepham High School to teach CPR and how to use a defibrillator. Kayla, hopes to bring this program to other school districts to raise awareness and help educate the community about the significance of having defibrillators readily available to all.
